  • Welcome to Kate’s World of Mystery

My name is Kate and I love a good old-fashioned mystery for the brain tease that it is. I hope you do too. I love to find clues and follow a smart, interesting main character like Helen Reilly from The Helen Reilly Mystery Series. I like to mix the cozy mystery genre with a little spicy, but clean, slow-burn romance. My style is more chick-lit contemporary, which, to me, means fun! I use completely believable settings that are based on real places (in Vancouver, BC, Canada). For Helen “HR” Reilly, I used my knowledge of the fascinating insider world of Human Resources consulting. Ever wonder what those HR people do?… more than you think.

I have started the series with three mystery novels that I am unrolling in November 2022 and into 2023. See below for the descriptions or go to my Books page. You can also find them on Amazon on my author page at: https://www.amazon.com/author/katelovecraft

Please subscribe to my monthly email list here: https://subscribepage.io/KateLovecraft where I will tell you about my next reads, other great reads I enjoyed, workshops I am doing and other free FUN mystery games, speaking of which…

Another thing I like to do is create Hidden Objects puzzle scenes and Coloring Books for fun, and I have made one to go with the series and I am giving away for FREE called: Help Helen Find the Clues when you subscribe to my fun email list.

    Book 1 – A Killing in Stocks

    November 2022

Helen Reilly’s life is about to change. As a Human Resources Manager for a lucrative downtown stock brokerage in Vancouver, she joked, These brokers could get away with anything shy of murder as long as they made money. Until she found her CEO dead in the Executive Suite. Only a handful of people have passes. But which one killed him? And why?

Helen teams up with the delicious Detective Miguel Consuelos to investigate. They both discover she has a talent for finding the truth. But with this potential romance distracting her, can Helen catch the murderer before the murderer catches on?

    Book 2 – A Blueprint for Murder

    January 2023

Helen Reilly has won an important consulting job with a prestigious architecture firm in Vancouver. She is called in as a third-party HR consultant to do an employee survey via a series of interviews with ambitious architects at all levels. What she starts to uncover becomes immediately disturbing and doesn’t stop when a body is found floating in the inlet. Helen renews her tenuous friendship (and possibly more) with Detective Consuelos who introduces her to her new boss the Coroner, Nancy Suzuki. Helen must learn to trust the detective to not destroy this company while they find the killer that must be among them.

Book 3 – A Bitter Murder to Swallow

    Spring 2025

Helen Reilly is about to learn a little about the bio-pharmaceuticals business even when she barely passed chemistry. Yet people problems are the same everywhere and this company has an upstairs-downstairs issue. She is called in to help solve the division between the PhD lab technicians and the upper management and administration, as they try to bring new drugs to market. Helen learns that laboratories can be a dangerous, and testing drugs even more. Is an accidental death more than it seems? She knows just enough to get her in trouble.
